Erected in 1839, it first stood by the coastline in front of O’Reilly Street, signalling the place where ships were supplied with water. After several locations, one of them in the street bearing its name it remained o the Gonzalo de Quesada Park, in Vedado, where it suffered acute deterioration. In 1997 it was returned to a place very near its original site and was totally restored for me rejoice of the city residents. |
