Cuba: Betting on Recreational Nautical Activities

The Cuban tourist sector shows the world a wide catalog of recreational options, many of which are linked to nature and history, as well as the traditional offers of sun and beaches.

This way, the Cuban archipelago, privileged with a strategic position in the Caribbean, supports the development of tourism with added values such as nautical activities to respond to the demands from thousands of vacationers,

In this environment, the Ernest Hemingway International Club of Cuba stands out, with 28 years of existence and the satisfaction of having friendly relations and collaboration with hundreds of institutions of the nautical community of the world.

In the opinion of Commodore José Miguel Díaz Escrich, the club highlights the privilege of holding the representation of the most important associations of cruise passengers and fishermen, as well as having been welcomed as a member of dozens of these institutions; breaking with this the isolation of Cuba with that community.

The center can assimilate up to 400 boats in each of its channels – each one is five meters deep – and even facilitate the conditions for life on board.

This last option guarantees crew members the essential basic services (drinking water, electricity, fuel, communications and cable television), although there is also the infrastructure that can accommodate vacationers in lodgings for the most demanding tastes.

For those who enjoy cruises in the area, the Hemingway Marina is ready to receive you in case of unforeseen events, with a boat shop in a position to undertake the repair of the ships.

In its work to contribute to the rescue of Cuban history and nautical traditions, it continues in its efforts to strengthen collaborative ties with the Cuban nautical, maritime and port sector.

In order to do this, it celebrates and supports the organization of academic events and activities, with the aim of contributing to the rescue of the culture of the sea in our nation.

Among the most relevant proposals organized by the Club is, in first order, the Ernest Hemingway Fishing Tournament, founded by the writer of The Old Man and the Sea, Farewells to Arms and so many important novels.

The entity also represents Cuba in numerous world associations such as the Ocean Cruising Club, Cruising Association of the United Kingdom; and Trans-Ocean and Kreuzer-Abteilung, both from Germany.

The Hemingway Marina Tourist Community is considered an ideal place for lovers of the marine environment, with options that also include shopping centers, Casa del Habano, medical services, naval hardware, Internet café, pharmacy and internal transportation, among other facilities.

Cuba's marine waters are an important component for the expansion of tourist, with an emphasis on recreational activities.
