Technology for Health on Cayo Largo del Sur
Monday, September 28, 2020

Havana.- Cayo Largo del Sur, a tourist destination in western Cuba, will have the services of a molecular biology laboratory.

The destination will have equipment to make PCR tests in the cases of workers and travelers from abroad, which will allow a rapid response to the Covid-19 pandemic.

For this work, specialists in microbiology and laboratory received training in sample processing and biosafety protocols.

As of November, the laboratory is expected to start operating in order to carry out epidemiological surveillance, the month in which the arrival of foreign travelers is expected.

In correspondence with the demands of a context marked by Covid-19, the presence in hotel facilities of doctors, nurses, and hygiene and epidemiology technicians is established.
