Cuban Economy Encourages Food Production
Monday, September 28, 2020

Havana.- The Cuban economy has in food production one of its priorities for development, with a view to taking advantage of the country's potential and reducing imports.

Cuba's strategy promotes municipal agriculture to obtain higher volumes of vegetables, meats, grains, fruits, small livestock and aquaculture.

In addition, differentiated and preferential sowing of more rustic crops of long and short cycles is important, mainly those that are most demanded by the population, which require fewer inputs.

Additionally, Cuban authorities plan to intensify the attention to the areas or farms of seeds of the different crops, in order to increase production with high quality.

Together with this, it is intended to recover and build new livestock modules in all companies, incorporating poultry species (Creole meat and eggs), pigs, sheep-goats and rabbits.
