Cuban Authorities Report on Monetary Unification
Monday, September 14, 2020

Havana.- The Central Bank of Cuba noted that the information circulating on social networks about the alleged monetary unification in the country is false.

According to the bank, when that decision is adopted, it will be communicated in a timely manner to the population through the established official channels.

Coupled with this, the Central Bank reiterated that the monetary unification will not affect the cash in the hands of the population, nor the balances of their bank accounts.

In turn, the Metropolitan Bank pointed out that the messages that circulate unofficially and create uncertainties among the institution's clients will be eliminated.

It is worth mentioning that in October 2013, the Council of Ministers publicly reported that work would begin on the monetary unification process.
