Cuban Paralympic Athlete with Aspirations for Tokyo-2021
Monday, August 3, 2020

Havana.- Cuban Paralympic athlete Leinier Savón, winner of two titles in the Rio de Janeiro-2016 Games, aspires to win medals in the long jump competition in Tokyo-2021.

Savón won two gold medals in the Brazilian event in the 100- and 200-meter trials in the T12 category (weak visual impairment).

For this, he will start training August, when athletes who qualified for the Olympics in the Japanese capital will resume their preparation.

Precisely, the long jump contest in Tokyo will be his second choice of medal, because the 200-meter race is not called in the program of 93 men's events.

According to the International Paralympic Committee Classification Guide, the places in each event will be distributed to the first four places of the Dubai World Paralympic Championships 2019, and six others through the ranking.
