Tribute in Spain to Renowned Cuban Dancer
Monday, August 3, 2020

Havana.- Prima Ballerina Assoluta Alicia Alonso (1920-2019) will be honored by the Insular Council of Mallorca, Spain, for her outstanding contribution to the arts.

The agenda consists of a photo exhibition on the occasion of her 100th birthday and the 30th anniversary of her historic presentation there along with dancer Rudolph Nureyev and soprano Victoria de los Angeles.

The Palacio de la Misericordia will host the exhibition that contains unpublished photos by Oscar Pipkin on that memorable performance by Alonso of the ballet Poem of Love and the Sea, choreographed by Alberto Méndez.

In addition, the documentary Tres mitos para una noche (Three Myths for a Night), produced by the National Museum of Dance of Cuba, written by Pedro Simón and the making of Ioshinobu Navarro Sanler will be exhibited.

The audiovisual collects details of that event and the choreography in its entirety, in which other figures from the National Ballet of Cuba also participate.
