International Timba Festival Postponed for 2021
Monday, August 3, 2020

Havana.- The 2nd edition of the International Timba Festival, Forever Formell, scheduled for September, was postponed for the same month next year.

The Artistic and Literary Promotions Company Artex S.A. pointed out that this decision responds to the situation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic in Cuba.

For this measure, aspects of the event were taken into account, including the participation of two dozen musical groups, teachers, dancers, musicologists, critics and art specialists.

However, tribute will be paid to the 78th birthday of Juan Formell (August 2, 1942), the director and founder of the popular Los Van Van orchestra.

The first edition of Forever Formell was held in August 2019, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of The Cuban Music Train, as Los Van Van is also called, and the 500th anniversary of the foundation of Havana.
