Red Numbers for American Airlines
Monday, July 27, 2020

New York.- American Airlines closed operations in the first six months of 2020 with losses of nearly 4.308 billion dollars.

That trend responds to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which also led to a 55-percent drop in billing.

In addition, from April to June, the red numbers reached 2.067 billion dollars, in contrast to earnings of 662 million in a similar period in 2019.

The incipient reopening of the economy had allowed expectations to improve between May and June, but the outbreaks once again put the sector on alert in July.

The company is expected to reduce its expenditures by closing routes, along with the withdrawal of some 150 aircraft from its fleet and labor measures that will affect 41,000 employees.
