Nature Tourism for All in Cuba
Monday, July 27, 2020

Havana.- The Las Tinajitas trail, in the eastern Cuban province of Holguín, is a unique element for the promotion of nature tourism in the territory.

Adjacent to the Silla de Gibara camping base, it is part of the hills of the Maniabón group, with huge karst rocks that give shape to most of its elevations.

Las Tinajitas is divided into nine stations or points of natural interest associated with the flora and fauna of the region.

At the cave station, hikers experience the adventure of crossing a 35-meter grotto, inhabited by Molossus molossus, a harmless species of bat that feeds on fruits and insects.

Likewise, the surrounding vegetation is diverse, with a great variety of botanical families where timber species such as mahogany, cedar, majagua, baría and nispero, among others, abound.

Lovers of ecotourism and hiking find as an added value a suitable site to watch endemic birds and other local species.
