Olympic Feat of Cuban swimmers Recalled |
|
|
Monday, July 27, 2020
Havana.- Cuban sport recalled the Olympic feat achieved by Cuban swimmers 24 years ago, when two medals were won in the Atlanta-1996 games.
On that occasion, the protagonists were Rodolfo Falcón and Neisser Bent, who won the silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the 100 meters of back style contest.
That event also meant the first and only medals from that sport at the Olympic Games.
On that unforgettable day of July 23, 1996, Falcón clocked 54.98 seconds and Neisser 55.02 seconds, following Jeff Rouse, from the United States, who clocked 54.10 seconds.
In the Olympic Park of Atlanta, in perennial tribute to all the medalists of the 26th Olympic Games, the names of these brilliant Cuban athletes are recorded.
