Havana.- The Hall of Fame of the Pan-American Federation of Weight Lifting (FPLP) added 11 representatives from Cuba.
In the first inclusion, athletes such as Marcelino del Frade, Sergio Alvarez, Julio Echenique, Ramón Madrigal and Manuel Suárez were taken into account, who received the total votes (six).
Likewise, Carlos Cuervo, Pedro Luis Rodríguez, Pastor Rodríguez, Mario Villalobos and Rolando Leyva accumulated five votes; and Fernando Bernal won four.
The remaining nine athletes are from Colombia (three), Mexico (two), Venezuela (one), Brazil (one), Canada (one) and Argentina (one).
In addition, three women reached the status in this foundational edition, including Canada's Christine Girard, Colombia's Mabel Mosquera and Mexico's Soraya Jiménez.
Seven regional executives were in charge of voting to choose from a list of 27 candidates who were included in the Hall of Fame on this occasion.
