Medical Supplies Made in Eastern Cuba
Monday, July 13, 2020

Havana.- The Laboratory of Antibodies and Experimental Biomodels (Labex), located in eastern Cuba, supplies the health system with supplies such as leukocyte markers.

This type of product is used to monitor leukocytes in human peripheral blood.

The information obtained from the use of these reagents facilitates the diagnosis of immunological diseases such as Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS), leukemia and lymphomas.

These products are very useful in the flow cytometry method, which allows determining the number and characteristics of cells in a sample of blood, bone marrow or other tissues.

It is worth mentioning that in Cuba there are 10 pieces of cytometry equipment, whose imported reagents cost 400 dollars a bottle, while the one produced in the country does not exceed 400 Cuban pesos.
