Cuban Agriculture for Recovery of Fruit Trees
Monday, July 13, 2020

Havana.- The Cuban agricultural sector prioritizes the recovery of fruit crops, with a view to meeting the demand from the domestic market and tourism.

In this direction, the work of the Research Institute of Tropical Routes (INIVIT), which is building a donor bank for the sales of fruit to producers, stands out.

INIVIT executives pointed out that this initiative will favor obtaining yolks and increasing the activity of nurseries without losing quality.

It should be noted that currently the institution promotes the marketing of red mamey, mango, cashew, custard apple, avocado, banana and Maradol papaya.

Additionally, free delivery of packages is made to producers in the non-state sector and owners of family yards.

Since 1967, the Instituto de Investigaciones de Viandas Tropicales has dedicated the production of seeds of vianda and fruit trees resistant to specific problems in agriculture.
