Monday, July 13, 2020

Havana.- Cuba aspires to compete the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo with some 80 competitors, with options of reaching 100 if the baseball team qualifies.

So far, Cuba has 41 classified athletes for the Japanese event in eight sports, especially athletics (14) and wrestling (12).

The number of places must increase after the judo ranking closes and the boxing pre-Olympic and wrestlers qualify, as those athletes aspires to win three other places.

Cuban sports officials pointed out that baseball and beach volleyball as collective disciplines have options to be included in the Olympics.

Athletics so far is the most ranked sport for Tokyo, with a total of 14, followed by wrestling (12), sports shooting with five, canoeing (four), modern pentathlon (two), artistic gymnastics (two), cycling and taekwondo.
