Monday, July 6, 2020

Madrid.- Official figures from Spain show that the tourism sector closed with zero incomes in May, as a result of restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In this way, the arrival of foreign visitors was nil and, consequently, also the currency of an activity that contributes 12 percent of the wealth of the European country.

With this, Spain lost at least eight million tourists and more than 8.1 billion euros of income in May, taking into account the data from the same period last year.

The accumulated figures show that between January and March 10.6 million tourists visited Spain, compared to 14.2 million in the same period of 2019.

In mid-June, the government arranged a contribution of 4.262 billion euros to revive the country's tourism industry, among the most affected by the coronavirus epidemic.
