Small Industries Bring Food to Cuban Market
Monday, July 6, 2020

Havana.- Cuba's domestic market benefits from the contribution of small industries, which have joined efforts in food production.

In the case of the eastern province of Ciego de Avila, 24 small companies deliver each year some 6,500 tons of various items for tourism and the population.

These small factories are located in seven of the province's ten municipalities and are mainly served by the companies Agroindustrial Ceballos, La Cuba and Integral Agropecuaria.

Currently, they make some 20 products, depending on the time of year, among which are canned food and vegetables, frozen vegetables and pickles, and juices in different containers and formats.

Investments in these units are aimed at incorporating new products and packaging lines of different formats, as well as the decrease in energy consumption.
