Cuban Coffee Sector Works on Recovery |
|
|
Monday, July 6, 2020
Havana.- Cuba is taking actions to regain positions in coffee production, with aspirations of reaching 30,000 tons by 2030.
The strategy includes several measures, including the use of clones of high-yield varieties.
It is worth mentioning that Cuban coffee is in high demand, particularly the Arabica variety, which has a special aroma, hence the interest in Cuban coffee in international markets.
Cuba is expected to produce 10,000 tons of coffee, nearly 2,000 tons of which will be exported, with revenues of 10 million dollars.
In addition, coffee crops are being developed in the plain areas, as part of a program that already covers nine provinces and on which the country will depend to a great extent to be self-sufficient in that sector.
