Havana.- Cuba ranked second by country in the 2nd edition of the International Virtual Karate Performance Kata and Kumite, an event organized in the Wado Kai style.
At the event, which had the participation of 360 athletes and 15 selected referees from 12 nations, the Cubans scored a total of 247 points and 25 medals.
The Cuban representatives won 10 gold, nine silver and six bronze medals, with the greatest contribution in the Kata (8-6-5), without forgetting the performance in Kumite (2-3-1 ).
Cuban sports officials stressed that Cuba equaled the second position reached in the first edition called for the Kata only, with 126 points and 15 medals (7-2-6).
In 2014, Cuba became the first country in Latin America and the Caribbean to become an affiliate member of the IWA KARATE INTERNATIONAL WADO KAI ACADEMY, a prestigious institution from the European Community.
