Monday, June 29, 2020

Madrid.- The impact of the Covid-19 on international tourism is reflected in losses of near 195 billion dollars during the first four months of 2019.

According to the World Tourism Organization, from January to April global visitors' arrivals showed a severe contraction of 44 percent.

Travel restrictions remain in place in most international destinations, and tourism remains one of the hardest hit sectors.

At the regional level, Asia and the Pacific was the first region to be affected by the pandemic, especially between January and April, with a decrease in arrivals of 51 percent.

At the same stage, the European region experienced a sharp drop of 44 percent, followed by the Middle East (40 percent), the Americas (36 percent) and Africa (35 percent).
