Havana.- The Cuban Neuroscience Center will deliver 250 emergency lung ventilators to the national health system in order to increase the capacity to respond to an eventual critical situation.
According to specialists, the development of these pieces of equipment in the national territory has saved the country at least 10 million dollars.
The institution successfully worked on the creation of a prototype emergency ventilator, with low-cost features and based on designs available on the Internet.
The institution worked together with the Immunoassay Center, in the construction of a non-invasive ventilator, with which, contrary to the other prototype, the patient does not require intubation.
Of this second type of device, some 250 units could also be delivered, increasing to 500 the artificial respirators available in the country.
