Incentives to Agriculture in Western Cuba
Monday, June 29, 2020

Havana.- The western province of Pinar del Río is taking actions to boost agricultural production for the domestic market.

According to experts, the sowing of some 36,200 hectares is planned, with an increase of 3,750 hectares compared to the previous season.

The province makes particular emphasis on planting of short-cycle crops, such as cassava, sweet potato, squash, corn, melon, pumpkin and banana, to name a few.

In addition, the seeds are guaranteed for various agricultural programs and new varieties of corn are planted due to their high productivity.

The system in Pinar del Río carries out sustained work in all subprograms of urban, suburban and family agriculture to bring fresh food to communities.
