Havana.- The Cine Cubano magazine, associated to the creation of the ICAIC, accumulates six decades of activity since it was founded in June 1960 with a print run of 20,000 copies.
On its pages, it defined the characteristics of cinema in Cuba, including quality, artistic, national, non-conformist, cheap, commercial and technically finished cinema.
The publication welcomed the new creators who were trained on the fly and others from the Cine Club Vision and the Cultural Society Nuestro Tiempo.
Its vocation for integrating all the arts and for the new Latin American cinema to prevail led the magazine to publish special issues and to ignore the cinema itself to rank other expressions, such as the plastic arts.
Texts about the Cuban Cinematheque, Cartoons, the ICAIC Latin American Newsreel and interviews with artistic staff were published in the magazine.
