Cuban Women's Chess Teams Defeat Colombia

Havana.- The Cuban women's chess team beat Colombia in a virtual contest organized by the Bolívar League.

Several of the best players from the two nations were involved in the contest, at which the Cubans won 235 points and their rivals scored 149 after an hour and a half of confrontations on the www.lichess.org website.

The games were at a Blitz pace (three minutes) with no increase in seconds after each move, and according to official statistics, 163 games were played, seven percent ended in a draw.

Cuban player Oleiny Linares stood out by contributing 40 points, followed by Yerisbel Miranda with 35, Lisandra Llaudy, Lisandra Ordaz and Jennifer Pérez with 29 points each.

In total, 10 women played for each group, and in Cuba's case, they are all involved in a national league with games between teams from all three geographical areas.
