Five Cuban Sports Shooters Qualify for Olympic Games
Monday, June 1, 2020

Havana.- Five Cuban sports shooters have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics, scheduled for 2021.

It is noteworthy that the London-2012 Olympic champion in 25-meter rapid-fire pistol, Leuris Pupo, earned its qualification in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 2018.

In addition, Eglys de la Cruz (rifle), Jorge Félix Alvarez (fast shot), Laina Pérez and Jorge Grau (pistol) won their Olympic spot at the Pan-American Games in Lima, Peru, in 2019.

Experts think that Cuba could increase its tickets through invitations, although that process almost always benefits the representativeness of countries in the competition.

Only 65 seats remain to be decided by name and events of 360 in total, including 12 from the host nation, 24 invitations, 12 from the world ranking and 17 in two European competitions.
