Havana.- At least five Cuban players will be in professional volleyball leagues in Italy and France next season.
According to the International Volleyball Federation, the Cuban players are attacker Marlon Yant, Jesús Herrera, Osniel Melgarejo, Roamy Alonso and Julio César Cárdenas.
Yant, who is only 19 years old, was signed by the Cucine Lube Civitanova of Italy, world champion among clubs, after he debuted in European courts with France's Chaumont Volley.
The young man will be accompanied by attackers Herrera, Melgarejo and Alonso (central player), who also excelled during last season with their respective clubs.
Cárdenas, an external attacker, was transferred to France from Argentina, where he debuted with the Obras de San Juan team, and will play now with the Tourcoing Lille Metropole.
