Cuba Boosts Cigar Exports
Monday, May 25, 2020

Havana.- Cuba is promoting cigar production, with options to increase exports by sea due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Tabacuba business group focuses on designing alternative routes to ship its productions to international markets.

Restrictive measures prevent the operations of a dozen airlines that routinely transport Havana cigars to several places.

Hence the importance of using sea transport to satisfy consumers' demand.

The Cuban tobacco industry produces some 300 million hand-rolled cigars annually, some 100 million for export.

Tabacuba has 40 companies, 15 of which are agricultural firms, seven are agro-industrial, nine make hand-rolled cigars, four make cigarettes, and five provide services and marketing.
