Cuban Judoka for Olympic Medal in Tokyo
Monday, May 25, 2020

Havana.- Idalys Ortiz, one of Cuba's best judokas, aspires to win medals at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

Her career includes an Olympic title in London-2012, in addition to a silver medal in Rio de Janeiro-2016 and a bronze medal in Beijing-2008.

If she reaches the final at the Nippon Budokan, she would be the second best judoka in Olympic history, behind Japan's Ryoko Tani (formerly Tamura), who accumulated 2-2-1.

Ortiz expects to advance to the discussion of the title in Group A, where she will be seeded for his leadership in the world ranking.

In Cuban women's judo, figures such as Estela Rodríguez, silver medalist in Barcelona and Atlanta-1996 in the +72 kg category, and Daima Beltrán, with the same medals in +78 kg in Sydney-2000 and Athens-2004, also stand out.
