Havana.- Cuban audiovisual production Nuestro Changüí won the award for best direction at the International Festival of Independent Music (IMAs), in New York, in the United States.
According to experts, the award is presented each year to participants from all over the world and recognizes the best direction in long musical documentary material.
The work resulted from an idea to film the Changüí of Guantánamo with the production of the Empresa de Grabaciones y Ediciones Musicales (EGREM).
The work included a stay in Yateras, which is the cradle of changüí, and the person who carried the common thread of the documentary was Andrés Fistó Cobas (Tabera), the only member alive of the old Changüí group from Guantánamo.
In its 18th edition, the New York World Festival of Independent Music highlights the filmic excellence of Nuestro Changüí, materialized by the LCA Audiovisual Group.
