Actions in Favor of Cuba's Major Coastal Resort
Monday, April 27, 2020

Havana.- Varadero beach, Cuba's major coastal resort, benefits from actions aimed at guaranteeing the dumping of sand.

The works began last year and some 53,000 cubic meters of sand have been poured on the beach, while the second stage in execution is concentrated in the sectors of Las Americas and up to the historic center of Varadero.

The Investment Company GAMMA S.A. assumes the project, which includes the injection of 100,000 cubic meters in an area of 650 meters of coastline.

The sand in Varadero is of biogenic origin, a product of biological organisms such as mollusks, corals and foraminifera.

The dumping is done with the same sand that exists in the accumulation points of the basin, which is displaced to the most eroded parts of the beach.
