Monday, April 6, 2020

Havana.- Several Cuban athletes returned home from Peru, where they were training for upcoming world events.

The groups is made up of volleyball players and shooters, including 2012 Olympic gold medalists in the fast pistol, Leuris Pupo, and Jorge Félix Alvarez, Pan-American champion in Lima, Peru.

The Cuban shooters were in Peru in compliance with a training base prior to the Olympics in Tokyo, which were postponed for one year.

Eight Cuban volleyball female players hired by Peruvian clubs also returned to their homeland, including Gretell Moreno, a key player in the Cuban national team.

The return of the Cuban athletes was possible thanks to coordination between authorities from the two countries in recent weeks.
