Cuba Reshuffles Medical Services to Deal with Covid-19
Monday, March 30, 2020

Havana.- Cuba has been reorganizing its medical services as of lately, with a view to avoiding an unnecessary influx of people to healthcare centers.

Insiders have noted that benefits have been phased in throughout the country, based on the activities that could be temporarily differed.

However, medical consultations are maintained for vulnerable groups, such as pregnant women, while transplants and oncological surgeries continue to be performed.

Stomatology services, except for emergency cases, have stopped, but will be offered in quarantine sheds, although it involves a high risk.

Isolation units for people arriving from abroad have been set up in all provinces, while active screening goes on in the whole country, currently covering more than three million people.
