Cuban Experts Call for Special Treatment for Diabetics |

Havana.- Cuban physicians have ratified the need for special protection measures for diabetics, as the new Covid-19 Coronavirus spreads throughout the world.
According to specialists, these patients, especially those with a record of poor metabolic control, are more likely to have a harder time dealing with infectious diseases.
A weaker immune system – they say - makes it difficult to fight the virus, and in turn, all the hormonal, biochemical and immunological mechanisms that trigger the entry of the germ into the body increase the ravages of the disease.
This condition is likely to be worsened by associated chronic diseases, such as high blood pressure, obesity or cardiovascular diseases, which leave patients more vulnerable.
Faced with this scenario, experts consider it important to keep blood glucose concentrations as close to normal values as possible.
