Foreign Aid Bolsters Cuba’s Economy
Monday, March 30, 2020

Havana.- Cuba’s seaport management has been given a shot in the arm by means of foreign aid, with a case in point in the new crane donated to Havana to unload cereal.

The donation came as a result of an international collaboration project, which guarantees wheat for the production of bread for some four million people.

It was purchased with funds from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Russian Federation, which joined the World Food Program (WFP) in this endeavor.

The Vigan brand equipment will help Cubans save resources, as it cuts down on ships’ stay at ports by about seven days, accounting for some 100,000 dollars in expenses.

The new crane, worth about 300,000 dollars in the world market, boasts a handling capacity that of 200 tons per hour.
