Monday, March 23, 2020

Montevideo.- The Enjoy Hotel in Punta del Este (Uruguay) will suspend operations due to the impact of the Covid-19 Coronavirus pandemic.

Enjoy stands as one of the main local tourist attractions, featuring game rooms, fairs, talks, congresses, restaurants, bars and children's activities.

According to the administration, from 700 to 800 employees will be put under unemployment insurance and another 200 will be working in administrative tasks, as guards and maintenance workers, both remotely and in person.

During work suspension the hotel authorities will be offering its almost 300 rooms to be used as a hospital center.

Other Punta del Este hotels, such as the Barradas and The Grand Hotel have also decided to close their doors, due to the declared health emergency in the country.
