Havana to Host National Athletics Cup
Monday, March 23, 2020

Havana.- The Cuban capital will host the Cuba Athletics Cup this month, which should allow winners to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.

Insiders consider the event as an opportunity for those athletes who still have not achieved the minimum required records.

As an example, they mentioned heptathlete Adriana Rodríguez, a potential competitor in Tokyo in long jump, for which she must jump at least 6.82 meters.

Another case in point is discus thrower Jorge Fernández, who would need a 64 meter throw to qualify.

There are already 13 Cuban qualified athletes, to compete in such events as discus throwing, pole vault and long jump.
