Cuba Defers Athletic Event at Beach Resort |

Havana.- Organizers of the 3rd Varadero Half Marathon, at the famous beach resort in western Cuba, have postponed the event until September 27, fearing consequences from the Covid-19 coronavirus.
Initially scheduled for the end of March, the event was moved to the aforementioned date in the interest of guaranteeing the safety and health of the participants.
By then some two hundred foreign runners and nearly two thousand local runners had confirmed their attendance.
The new date, chosen tentatively, responds to the conveniences of the climate to avoid the island country’s high temperatures in summer.
Organizers confirmed that previous registrations will remain valid, while runners' participation will be optional.
