Monday, February 24, 2020

Bogotá.- Colombia´s tourism sector reported a 56.9 record hotel occupancy rate in 2019, and 55.4 percent last December.

As reported by the Hotel and Tourism Association of that country (COTELCO), Bogotá had an occupation rate of 51.99 percent, or 3.57 percentage points.

COTELCO recalled that among the most important and visited ecotourism destinations in the country are Tayrona Park and Cabo de la Vela, in La Guajira Peninsula.

Also much sought-after were the Nevado del Ruiz Volcano, the Chicamocha Canyon and the Tatacoa Desert, the Amacayacu National Park in the Amazon River Basin, and the Malpelo and Gorgona Islands in the Pacific Ocean.

In Colombia seven sites have been declared World Heritage Sites by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
