Cuban Sugar Industry Attracts Tourists |

Monday, February 24, 2020
Havana.- Cuba's sugar industry, full of history, traditions and up to date developments, stands out as an important focus for international tourism.
A case in point is the Jardines del Rey destination in the province of Ciego de Ávila, where tourists are invited to join the “Sugar, Tobacco and Rum”, tour, with a stop at the “Motherland or Death Museum”.
According to directors of Empresa Extrahotelera Palmares Inc., this option has been widely accepted among vacationers from Canada, the United Kingdom and Russia.
As part of the tour, visitors can appreciate well-preserved pieces that recreate the local sugar industry’s historic development, including steam locomotives manufactured in the last century, a crane that worked on the construction of the Panama Canal, a 1917 zeppelin, in addition to tandems, scales, mills and line engines.
After visiting the museum, tourists can embark on a five-kilometer journey between sugar cane plantations, on a train pulled by a Baldwin steam locomotive dating back to 1920.
