Breastfeeding Ensures Children's Health |

Havana.- The eastern Cuban province of Holguín is encouraging breastfeeding as an effective mechanism for child development.
Polyclinics and offices of the territory are jointly promoting the plan, considered among the priorities of the Mother-Child Program (PAMI).
Likewise, so called Maternal Homes are developing an educational program aimed at highlighting the nutritional importance of breastfeeding in the first six months of the newborn’s life.
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) is promoting a global campaign of such practices, which includes training, guidance and family preparation.
Cuba hopes to establish Breast Milk Banks, as an option to serve undernourished or low-weight newborns.
