Cuban Leslie Amat Stands Out in Pan American Triathlon
Monday, February 24, 2020

Havana.- Cuban athlete Leslie Amat, one of the main triathlon competitors in her country, finished third in the Pan American Cup of the discipline, in Puerto Cortes (Honduras).

Amat registered 01:00:30 hours, only surpassed by US’s Renee Tomlin (00:59:31) and Colombia’s Diana Castillo (00:59:39).

Amat is pinning her hopes on qualifying for the Tokyo-2020 Olympic Games, hence the importance of earning ranking points at international events.

According to the International Triathlon Union (ITU), Amat is ranked 117 in the Olympic list, 81 in the World Cup and 21 in the Continental.

Leslie will be the main host at the Ibero-American Triathlon Championship in Havana and could also enter the Bermuda competition, the first Olympic distance race of the year.
