Cancelled Telecommunications Forum Hurts Barcelona’s Tourism |

Madrid.- The decision to suspend the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona has brought important and negative effects in the field of tourism.
Hotels had 28,000 rooms reserved by the official organizing agency, thus thwarting an important capital injection in the beginning of the year.
The Association of Tourist Apartments (Apartur) warned that the cancellation will generate "significant losses", since that event’s cost was about 14 million euros.
The measure responds to the concern generated by the Convid-19 coronavirus, which has already infected more than 40 thousand people and killed 1,300 in China.
The cancellation followed the decision by important companies such as Nokia, Sony, Intel, Amazon, Ericsson, Vodafone and Facebook - among others – not to attend the event.
