Cuban Institution Working in Vaccination Program
Monday, February 17, 2020

Havana.- The Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB), based in the Cuban capital, is currently developing several vaccination projects.

Senior members of the institution said that 2019 witnessed the conclusion of patients' participation in phase II of clinical trials with prospective vaccine cigb-500, a drug intended to protect the heart.

Cigb-845 underwent a similar process, aimed at preventing cerebrovascular diseases.

Simultaneously, several phases of research have been going on to find a vaccine against zika, dengue and prostate cancer.

The CIGB also resorts to recombinant methods to obtain proteins and hormones and diagnostic means, while producing monoclonal antibodies.
