Cuban High Jumper Zayas Goes over 2.23 meters
Monday, February 17, 2020

Havana.- Cuban high jumper Luis Enrique Zayas, Pan-American champion in Lima-2019, achieved a personal mark of 2.33 meters at the Banská Bystrica rally in Slovakia.

Zayas prevailed in the aforementioned event and also became leader of the world ranking in the current season.

According to experts, Zayas remained confident all through the competition and twice exceeded the 2.30 meters, his best results until then.

A good season has been predicted for Zayas by world record holder Javier Sotomayor, taking into account that the former has gained in confidence and has already adapted to the conditions of indoor events.

He was joined at the podium in Slovakia by Bahamian Jamal Wilson, who also jumped 2.33 meters, - albeit committing more mistakes -, and Britton Tom Gale who got third after jumping 2.31 meters.
