Cuban Lisandra Ordaz Enters Chess Olympics
Monday, February 17, 2020

Havana.- International Master (MI) Lisandra Ordaz, winner of the 55th edition of the National Women's Chess Championship of Cuba, has earned her participation in the World Olympiad of the discipline.

She thus becomes the first Cuban chess player to be selected to attend the event in Russia, while the other four members of the team will be chosen in the coming days.

Ordaz remained out of such events for six years, after which she remained on top places, until entering the world championship.

The latest results grant her direct access to international events such as the Continental Chess Championship and the World Chess Olympics.

In between competitions, before the Olympics, the Capablanca in Memoriam Tournament is scheduled in Havana, where a women's elite tournament is planned.
