Monday, February 10, 2020
Havana.- Cuban cyclist Arlenis Sierra, a well-known route competitor, has been ranked 11th in the world by the International Cycling Union.
Sierra climbed up six positions after running in Australia, particularly as a result of her second place at Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race in Melbourne.
She is now aspiring to qualify among the first three finalists at the Valencian Community Race, scheduled from February 20-23.
In 2019, the one-day or staged races that helped her score higher were the Pan-American Route Championship (70 as fourth place); the California Tour (43 as second and third by stages and 18 in the general race); and the US’ Winston Salem Classic.
She scored an additional 50 points last October, after finishing fifth at the Bruno Beghelli International Grand Prix, and 100 more when she sprinted to fourth at China’s Guagnxi Race, which qualifies as World Tour.
