Cuban Archers Pin Hopes in Tokyo 2020
Monday, February 10, 2020

Havana.- Several of Cuba’s most competitive archers are gearing up to get classified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

With this in mind, a six member mixed team will take part in the Pan-American Championship in Mexico’s Monterrey, vying for individual qualifications.

The team members are: Juan Carlos Stevens, Adrián Puentes and Hugo Franco (men), and Riacelis Fleitas, Maydenia Sarduy y Elizabeth Rodríguez (women).

According to insiders, competitors can only win one position by gender, thus discarding any chance of classifying as a team.

Puentes represented Cuba in Rio de Janeiro 2016 , but most significant still was Steven’s fifth place in Beijing 2008.
