Panama’s Main Airport Registers Record Attendance
Monday, January 20, 2020

Panama.- Tocumen’s International Airport in Panama, the most important of its kind in the country, registered over 16 million travellers in 2019, mostly on transit.

The figure includes people embarked, disembarked and making connections in that terminal by using one of the 400 flights available each day to 89 destinations in 37 countries in the Americas, Europe and Asia.

Some of the cities most visited by these travellers are Bogota, Miami, Havana, Mexico City, San José (Costa Rica), Orlando (US), Madrid, Punta Cana and Lima.

According to insiders, air transportation is providing the Panamanian economy with some 200,000 jobs while injecting nearly 8,000 million dollars to the country’s GDP.

Panama is contemplating investments nearing 500 million dollars for the terminal in the next five years, with a view to completing an expansion plan that will be effective through 2035.
