Central Cuba Boosts Sugar Cane Byproducts
Monday, January 20, 2020

Havana.- Cienfuegos Province in Central Cuba is promoting the production of sugar cane byproducts, with eyes set on tapping into the industry’s potential.

Accordingly, several industrial plants of the Basic Enterprise Unit (BEU) of Byproducts Antonio Sánchez will be processing waste material left from the distillation of the Alficsa Plus Inc. Factory.

Local plants are pursuing the goal of making 12 tons a day of animal fodder and recovering their previous capacity to process carbon dioxide to be used in bottling soda and beer.

The cycle begins by using honey – a byproduct of sugar processing – as a basic product to produce alcohol.

Distillation waste goes to make animal fodder and gas for the food industry, while elaborated final products go to fertilization and irrigation of planted fields.
