Cuba’s Central Region Bent on Rising Coffee Exports
Monday, January 20, 2020

Havana.- Cuba’s Central province of Cienfuegos is going all out to create the facilities that will guarantee local exports of coffee.

Two of such facilities should be centers for the manual picking of coffee beans, amid the best conditions for both workers and the environment.

Accordingly, Cumanayagua Processing Plant must fulfill a yearly plan in 2020 of some 589 tons, 171 of which should be sold to foreign buyers through Cubaexport entreprise.

Cubaexport is also in charge of commercializing Cristal Mountain mark, currently selling at 12,000 USD a ton.

The province should also fulfill deliveries to Cimex and Necor Corporations, by means of the Mariel Special Development Zone in Eastern Havana, thus guaranteeing a considerable source of hard currency for the island country.
